Orc Marauders Charge into Grimdark Future

Hello everyone,

After much turmoil, today we're finally releasing all of the remaining models for the new Orc Marauders, giving you a full set to start your armies. This has been a wild ride, and we wanted to thank everyone for the feedback they provided us on the models, which has helped us vastly improve them. The models you're getting today wouldn't have been the same without your input, and we're glad you helped us see the models from a different angle, and improve them overall.

Model Updates

Since the original inception of the models, we've re-worked almost every aspect of them, but the journey isn't over yet. As we kept updating our models, we realized that there were still aspects about their heads that we want to improve, so we're going to be working on that alongside new models. Essentially, we realized that no matter what we do, the mustaches just aren't feeling very orcy, and that the hairstyles look more orcy if the sides of the head are shaved. We're already implementing this new style on all upcoming models, but some of our previous models (like the basic warriors) will have to be updated down the road. Oh, and we're also making the female tusks bigger, because bigger tusks = more orcy.

(A few work in progress examples of some of the new orc heads.)

Army Rules Updates

Beyond the models, today we're also updating the Orc Marauders army list to reflect two major changes: the removal of Goblins, and changes to units.

Goblin Reclaimers

First off, before you panic, let's talk about Goblins. In the OPR universe, Orcs and Goblins are two different species, that don't come together in one package. To reflect that, we're removing all Goblin units from the Orc Marauders, and are creating a brand new army called the Goblin Reclaimers. If you want to mix your Orcs and Goblins don't worry, you can always ally the two factions together and enjoy them that way.

The Goblin Reclaimers are a new fun and crazy faction for OPR, that allows us to explore the Goblins in their own right, because we always felt like they're too neglected in sci-fi games. This new army is smaller than the Orc Marauders, but no less fierce! The Goblins have some fun new lore, and are getting a bunch of new units as well, so make sure to check out their roster. In terms of models, we're going to be releasing the Goblin Reclaimers faction after the Orc Marauders, so you can get all of your greenskin goodness back-to-back.

Orc Marauders Rules Changes

Second, let's talk about rules changes. The biggest change is the removal of the Goblins of course, but what else? Honestly, not too much has changed, mostly some units have been re-named, some others have been split into multiple units or shuffled around, and there are some new units. Here's an overview of the most important changes:

  • Bosses are now called Veterans
  • Orc Mobs are now called Orc Warriors
  • Commandos are now called Infiltrators
  • Jetpack Orcs are now called Jump Pack Orcs
  • Orc Pirates are now called Veteran Specialists, and have a different weapon loadout that's more in line with the faction
  • Berserkers were added as a new unit
  • Beast Riders are now Berserkers, and have a different weapon loadout to reflect that
  • Mini-Copters are now called Hover Bikes
  • Orc Buggies are now Trikes, and replace the Trike from the leader mounts
  • Combat Karts are now called Assault Buggies
  • Looted Tanks are now called Battle Trucks, and have a different weapon loadout that's more in line with the faction
  • Battle Rigs are now called Great Battle Trucks, and have a different weapon loadout because they can't be beasts anymore
  • Combat Beasts were added as a new unit (separate from the Battle Rig)
  • Brutal & Cunning Titans are now called Great Walkers
  • Vehicle Upgrades were re-named to be more in line with the faction

That's about it for most important changes. There were other things that changed, and maybe some that we missed, but honestly it's best for you to just check out the army and get it playing on the table. Overall though, these are the same Orc Marauders you know and love, so nothing much is different in how they play.

We hope you enjoy our new models and rules, and are as excited as we are to see the Goblin Reclaimers join the battlefield later this year!

See Them Printed

If you want to get a first look at some of the printed models, our friend and OPR Ranger Warboss Fitz has printed out several of the models already where he tries out different paint schemes and asks the question: Do Orcs Have to be Green? You can watch his video below.

Also our friends from the Bonehead Podcast have started a new feature on their channel called One Page Wednesdays! This week's episode showcases the new range as well, you can watch it here:

Available Now on Patreon

If you'd like to get the first wave of the Orc Marauders, there is still some time to grab them on Patreon. In April the Orc Marauders start their engines and roll into battle with their Bikers and Truck, with a payload full of Orc Warriors, when the back hatch flings open, the fun begins and the battle cries of the orcs add to cacophony of roaring engines and booming bullets.

In addition to the orcs, you'll get our fantasy release of Wood Elves, our Legendary Models, our Quest and Star Quest campaigns and models, our Welcome Pack, Advanced Rulebooks, and more!

Happy Wargaming!
