Saurians Unveiled: Meet Satloxatle, the Poison Brewer and Kikatle, the Redeemer

Saurians Unveiled will be launching next month on MyMiniFactory's Frontiers! Today we'll be taking a look at two of them: Satloxatle, the Poison Brewer and Kikatle, the Redeemer. Even better, their stats are live now on Army Forge if you want to check them out, today!

Satloxatle, the Poison Brewer

After awakening from the long slumber in a pale and sickly state, Satloxatle has dedicated himself to reversing the damage done to him and his fellow Frog-Mages over the course of their long dormancy. After many failures through more traditional means, Satloxatle turned to alchemy and potion brewing, where he gained fame as a deadly poisoner.

During this long period, he led the pyramid of Okoye into isolation, cutting off the outside world in order to dedicate himself to his craft while sending out envoys to forage or steal anything that he needed for his experiments. He actively worked to undermine Lanaxi’s vision of uniting the Saurians, believing that his rival was attempting to force the hand of fate. Rumours even spread of Satloxatle carrying out assassination attempts against Lanaxi and his Priests, along with other underhanded techniques. This ultimately left the Okoye pyramid without allies and vulnerable to attack from their neighbours: the Mummified Undead.

The resulting Battle of the Red Dust was devastating. The once pristine Okoye pyramid, a rarity outside of the distant continent of Qayatxa, was completely destroyed. After helping to gather the survivors, Satloxatle stepped down from leadership, allowing the Saurians to manage themselves while occasionally offering guidance.

This has allowed Satloxatle to earn the respect that he once commanded from those of his Conclave. He still serves as a representative, and he is much sought after as a healer, both by his own people and outsiders. In scarce times, his potions and prophecies have drawn in much money for his travelling conclave. It is a more humble life than he once led, but Satloxatle believes it has granted him deeper wisdom.

As a Great Mage, Satloxatle has Caster(3) of course, with all the buffs and attack spells afforded all frog mages. But he also has his Celestial Serpent, a poisonous weapon that radiates out with Blast(3) and prevents regeneration while it turns good saves into failed ones by forcing them to be rerolled with Bane. Primal makes his Serpent magic even more deadly as 6's could result in even more poisonous strikes. His floating palanquin allows him to avoid terrain through Strider which should help to keep him out of combat, but should he find himself in it, a Magic Pulse along with Fear(1) and Fearless should give him the opportunity to prevail.

Kikatle, the Redeemer

Some whisper that Kikatle has inherited the gift of immortality from his Frog-Mage mentor, Lanaxi, since his death over a century ago. Though he bears many scars from his countless battles against Daemons and invaders, Kikatle has lost no strength to age or wounds while the lessons of battle have made him a canny leader and tactician.

It is said that the legendary Frog-Mage Lanaxi foresaw that the unity of the Saurians could only be achieved through his own self-sacrifice and personally tasked Kikatle with seeing that his goals were carried out. Since that tragic day, Kikatle has fought on behalf of all Saurians and Frog-Mages to serve as a living example of unity.

Some say that he once sought to find redemption for his failure to save his Frog-Mage through martyrdom. However, even after a century of fighting, he has not yet found an opponent capable of finally defeating him for good. Others say that Kikatle has been fated to survive until his master’s task is finished. While the Saurians are now united through the Council of Prophets, so long as petty disputes between Conclaves continue to rise up, the Saurian Veteran shall not be allowed to rest.

For now, he travels through the land, inspiring many followers to join him as he fights to protect the Frog-Mages and unite his people. While he hews close to the Mended Scale Conclave, he will always be there to aid his fellow Saurians. As a result, the twin serpent totems, gifted to him by Lanaxi, now stand as a symbol of protection and unity among the Saurians, whom Kikatle has fought selflessly to protect.

So long as this old Veteran still draws breath, hope remains for Lanaxi’s vision.

Kikatle is a verteran of many battles, and his experience shows through in his Fearlessness and powerful stats; able to endure some punishment with his Defense of 3+ even though he wears barely any armor. The Twin Serpent Totems he brings with him also a source of his resiliency as they give him and his unit Regeneration preventing further wounds with good rolls. In Melee he's a ferocious combatant, four Attacks with Surge and Primal means any 6's lead to even more attacks and hits, giving him lots of potential to deal far more damage than ever expected of him.
