Taking a Look at The Rusted Crown
“He has turned to an outsider, cloaked in shadow even in the full light of midday. This stranger spoke to my brother, promising him that he had the power to lay the Iron Crown upon his head and name him the King Reforged. This stranger has turned my brother from a dreamer to a tyrant and conqueror.” —Thalra

Story
After recovering the Blighted Tome from the hands of a corrupted Wood Elf in the Heartwood, your companion Marione sends you a message that leads you to the Dwarfhold known as Konaghald. Here, you are met by Thalra Brondad, Rune Lord and descendant of the Royal line. She has seen her brother, Gamharl, following down a dark path, as he seeks to reclaim their family’s former status as the rulers of the mountain and restore his people to glory.
Once, she encouraged his vision, but ever since a cloaked sorcerer arrived to advise him, Gamharl’s influence and ambitions have grown ever darker. Her descriptions match those of Malliur, a powerful spellcaster whom the players once released from a sealed Voidgate with the aid of Marione. It appears that Malliur seeks to control and guide the fledgling king’s journey to regain the power he lost during his long imprisonment.
The pursuit of Gamharl and his ominous new advisor leads you to a hidden vault in the old city, where a relic created by the dark mage Malliur lies; the Iron Crown adorned the heads of Dwarven Monarchs for centuries until their rule was brought to an end by invading Orcs.
Character Profile
A charismatic scion of the Dwarven Royal line deposed when the Orcs came to Konaghald, Gamharl seeks above all to restore himself and his people to their lost glory. His ambition has stirred something in the hearts of many Dwarves who live in the shadow of their ancestor’s ruined homes, accepting a more humble life than they once had. Yet, restoring his authority will require more than simple popularity and good will, and so he has turned to darker forces to bolster his efforts.
With his mighty Hammer of Konaghald and the dark influence of Malliur behind him, the would-be king is prepared to restore his familial birthright at any cost.

Gameplay
The Rusted Crown dives into Dwarven society, giving us a vision of life in the city of Konaghald, where you will attempt to undermine Gamharl’s growing ambitions. There were few who could claim finer workmanship or more productive mines, and much of the treasure that was thought lost may yet still be salvaged by those who dare venture into the depths.
Through your campaign, you will get the chance to explore this dwarven settlement, seeing where lost ruins and fortresses have been reclaimed and remade, as well as the outposts and cities they have built themselves, scratching a living out of hard rock and soil. You’ll be able to speak with the Dwarves and see the reverence for the old and the passion for forging the new, sometimes at odds but just as often finding a beautiful harmony in the dissonance.
Onwards to Adventure
You will encounter many allies and enemies throughout the mountain as you explore mills and mines, alehouses, archives, abandoned ruins, and trading towns while preventing Gamharl from embracing his ambitions and those of the dark mage behind him. A range of challenges await your bravery and your steel.
Using the quick-to-learn Age of Fantasy: Quest rule set, you’ll bring a band of heroes through challenging missions and encounters, testing their strength, dexterity, and will. Combining the best aspects of skirmish wargaming and role-playing games, you’ll have the chance to create a hero and, through them, leave your mark on the face of Tyria forevermore.
Can you save the Dwarves from the tyranny of the Iron Crown?
Happy Wargaming!
