The Whispers Below: Meet Ranjo and Xyros-Z320
Launching this week on MyMiniFactory's Frontiers, The Whispers Below is an all new Narrative Campaign for Grimdark Future, that sees the scrappy Jackals exploring and looting in places that maybe they shouldn't be, while the Robot Legions wake up from slumber in their crashed starship. It allows you to play out the story of these two faction's interactions through 10 brand new missions. It also comes with four new Narrative Heroes. The two we'll be meeting this week are Ranjo, an outcast thief looking to prove his loyalty, and Xyros-Z320, A Robot Legions Researcher who remains curious even in his current prediciment. Even better, their stats are live now on Army Forge if you want to check them out, today!

Ranjo, "Swiftsnare"

“I recognise High Elven craftwork when I see it; it’s good salvage.”
Outcast from his own tribe for stealing, Tayra offered Ranjo a second chance with her tribe. In return, the thief has given the Shaman his loyalty and his scrapsword. Perhaps even more useful than his combat ability is his charm; he understands his fellow misfits and has always had a talent for getting others to see things his way. This has allowed him to rally a band of fellow outcasts around Tayra, willing to take a chance on the rather eccentric Shaman.
Ranjo may his own doubts in the Shaman’s talk about rusty old wrecks whispering guidance to her, but he has always put his loyalty to Tayra first. However, as her voices lead them deeper and deeper into danger, the old thief must ask himself how much he is willing to sacrifice in the name of personal loyalty.
Once the lower levels open up the possibility of new dangers and valuable salvage, it would be very easy for the ever pragmatic Jackal to simply take whatever he can and split. Old habits, after all, die hard.
Yet, this might also be his best chance to find acceptance among his adopted tribe, proving himself worthy of being something more than a misfit on scraping by on the edge.
What will Ranjo sacrifice for a second chance?

As a Veteran Scrapper and survivor Ranjo always has at lot of tricks and gadgets to help him in combat. His Energy Pistol allows him to get off a shot when needed and a lucky 6 will get it to hit twice with Surge. The Renegade Sword takes the complete opposite approach to taking care of the Jackal's enemies by Shreding them, meaning any 1's to save gives them extra wounds. One of his tricks is a single Limited Salvaged Charge he keeps with him just in case. If he sets if off and it hit's, with AP 4 and Deadly (3) it's going to take a sizeable chunk out of that target, potentially taking them out of the fight for good. Lastly his Dazzle Cloak gives him and unit Stealth as a way to defend themselves from enemy shooting, making them harder to hit if they're far enough away.
Xyros-Z320, Head Researcher

“While your curiosity is commendable, I must say it is rather poor form to look over a person’s notes without their permission.”
Eternally curious and scientific in his approach, Xyros was chosen to serve as the head researcher of a doomed mission near the Radiance. Yet, even when awoken suddenly after years of dormancy on an alien planet, the Robot proves ever-adaptable and eager to learn. Ijida presents him with a great deal of new phenomena from its strange atmospheric interference to the eccentric Jackals themselves who have made inventive use of the scraps from his own fallen ship.
Xyros is no soldier; he makes attempts to negotiate but his focus on data and research above all can make him somewhat off-putting. Even on the battlefield, Xyros is focused on understanding his enemy and making use of his Technoaide companions rather than relying on direct confrontation as like his colleague Oath-U7X1.
This distaste for confrontation also sees him pushed aside while Oath presses his authority as head of security upon their reawakening. Yet, as his colleague becomes increasingly fanatical in his desire to carry out protocols, Xyros finds himself forced to choose between following orders and applying his own judgement on how to adapt to the situation he and his remaining crew have found themselves in.
Will Xyros adapt and learn to assert himself when the time comes?

Xyros-Z320 is calculated in combat, even more so than other Robots. Unstoppable when Shooting that he gives himself and his unit through his Optimized Optics means that anything fired is going to hit on exactly what you expect it to hit on. In Xyros' case a 3+ from his Quality means his Experimental Shooting Arms will be hitting more often than not, and if they hit on 6's the enemy can say goodbye to their armor as those shots will get AP4 from Destructive. His Experimental Melee Arms are just as Destructive so getting up close to him doesn't take away that threat at all.
