Vampiric Undead Unveiled: Meet Captain Blackfang

The Vampirc Undead Faction Book will be launching later this month, and we have another Narrative Hero to show you. This time we're going to be taking a look at a Vampiric Pirate who's favorite prey is Havok Warriors! Learn how this Vampire became a landless pirate, and how he can be a boon to any unit in your Vampiric Undead army!

Captain Ekvanyik “Blackfang” Tsaveskoz

Ekvanyik “Blackfang” Tsaveskoz, an infamous Vampire adventurer, started as the Knight-Commander of the port town of Grazye. Unsatisfied with his low place in the ranks of Vampire Nobility, Tsaveskoz sought to make a name for himself, and decided to find outside of the Marches the glory that he couldn’t attain in his homeland.

Before he even took the name Blackfang, Knight-Commander Tsaveskoz was known for his greed. He had been a fearsome warrior in his mortal days, ruthlessly cutting down Havoc Warriors with his cutlass.

Blackfang never felt accepted by the nobility of the Marches, and his thirst for recognition pushed him to chase wealth in any form. Being a consummate warrior and in command of a port, piracy was an obvious outlet, and he picked the nom de guerre of “Blackfang”. Ironically, he never cared much for sailing and was reportedly terrified of falling in water.

His first major raid took him to the lost Saurian city of Eltoxato, from which he returned with considerable amounts of gold and several powerful artefacts. In typical fashion, he neglected to study the strange Saurian devices and simply hung them in his dining hall, boasting of his prowess to any guest he could convince to attend his feasts.

Upon hearing of Blackfang’s success, the Vampire King demanded his share, being entitled to tribute as the Knight-Commander’s liege. Fevrig III was specifically interested in the potential of these arcane artefacts.

But Blackfang’s pride had grown tremendously, and he balked at the idea of giving up any of his hard-earned loot. He ended up destroying the artefacts in a fit of rage.

Blackfang knew that he had gone too far, and he had to flee the Vampiric Marches before Fevrig III’s revenge could reach him. He became a landless pirate, hated from the Elven coast to the Vinci shores.

A Fast Moving Threat

In battle, Blackfang is an elite close-range fighter who's Pirate Charge special ability greatly enhances any unit he's leading by increasing their speed by 2" on a move and 4" on a Rush or Charge! You can use this ability to make a usually slow undead unit, like the Stitched Butchers much more nimble, or you can use it to help a normal speed unit, like a full unit of Ghouls, blitz across the field and threaten a huge area of the map. And when even this bit of speed isn't enough to reach the enemy? His Gravedust Pistol is a surprising ranged threat with four AP(1) attacks!

If you want to try him out yourselves in your next Army List, Blackfang's stats, as well as the stats for our other three new Narrative Heroes, are available now on Army Forge!
